Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) is going to organise 'Tagore in Sufiana', a fusion based programme of Tagore's poetry and Sufi Music, by elocutionist Suvadeep Chakraborty's 'Shrutibritto' group from Kolkata at the IGCC, Gulshan in the city. The event will be held on August 20.
This is a fusion production of Tagore's poetry with different Sufi songs of Bulleh Shah, Aamir Khasru, Nijamuddin Aoliya etc. The concept and recitation is by Suvadeep Chakraborty, songs by Sambuddha Chatterjee, Sitar accompanist Deepshankar Bhattacharya and Tabla by Nabarun Dutta.
Suvadeep Chakraborty is a rising star in the field of elocution in Kolkata and he is the owner of a cultural group 'Srutibritto'. Many eminent personalities like Soumittra Chattopadhyay, Ustad Rashid khan, Goutam Ghose, Rituparna Sengupta, Indrani Sen, Sraboni Sen, Lopamudra Mitra, Srikanta Acharya, Probuddha Raha, Monomoy Bhattacharya etc. have performed in his concept and direction. On the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, he steer-headed a project- 'Aaloye Phera' with under-privileged children of Kolkata. In 2012, his production was invited by Tagore Society, Singapore and also Indian Council for Cultural Relations of Government of India. Srutibritto has also given performances in Bangla Sangskriti Utsav, Kolkata, Bhasha Utsav, Bharati Sanskriti Utsav, Seba Utsav, International Poetry Festival, Kolkata etc.
Suvadeep has received several awards namely Best Elocutionist Award by Youth Guild for Friendship, Best Elocutionist Award by Kolkata TV, Dhiren Basu Smriti Samman Puroshkar by Rupmanjari and Bachik Puroshkar by Bachik Shilpi Sansad. He has released several albums namely 'Ek Guchho Chabi' by Alpha Music, 'Bidaye Swarane' by Cozmic Harmony 'Antarotamo' by Picasso Entertainment.
