Cox’s Bazar: Some 159 Bangladeshis, who were rescued in Myanmar, have returned the country on Monday.
Myanmar Immigration and National Registration Department handed them over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) around 12:45pm after a flag meeting.
The rescued Bangladeshis were supposed to return on July 30. But, the date later changed twice.
Officials of both BGB and Myanmar Immigration Department re-fixed the date on Aug 10.
Myanmar’s Navy personnel rescued 727 migrants from their water.
Among the rescued people, a total of 160 were handed over to the BGB after identifying them as Bangladesh nationals, according to a news agency.
