Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque has requested the bloggers not to write anything that hurts religious sentiment.

The police boss came up with the call while briefing journalists at Police Headquarters in the capital on Sunday.

“There is no problem in writing blog posts. But, don’t write anything that hurts others’ religious sentiment. Hurting religious sentiment is an offence,” said IGP Shahidul.

Mentioning the attackers, he also said, “None will be spared who involved in killing the bloggers. Anyone can get legal assistance if any blog post hurts one's feelings. There is a provision of 14 years’ jail in the penal code for hurting religious sentiment.”

Regarding blogger Niloy murder, he told journalists that investigation is on and law enforcing agencies are working to nab the killers using modern technology. The IGP is hopeful about arrest of the perpetrators.

About some recent incidents of killing a number of children across the country, he said, “Those involved in killings the children in recent times are not professional killers. They might have killed the children because of personal or psychological reasons.”
