Minor boy Ibad fighting for life

Bagerhat: A class-IV boy, who was tortured indiscriminately by a youth on his school premises at Uttar Khanpur village in Sadar, has been struggling hard to recover over the last five days at a private hospital.

Witnesses said Ibad Sheikh, 10, son of Azmal Sheikh of Uttar Khanpur village of the upazila and a student of class IV in Uttar Khanpur Govt Primary School, was beaten without any perceivable reason by Soleman Chakladar, 22, son of Rafiq Chakladar of the same village on July 2 as the minor boy along with his classmates were waiting at a classroom at the school before a second terminal examination.

Uttar Khanpur Govt Primary School assistant teacher Abdul Khaleq alleged that Soleman fled the scene after the boy was seriously injured in his beating.

Soleman is a drug addict and allegedly involved in various notorious activities in the locality, the teacher added.

After giving the first notice to the victim, the school authorities informed his father Azmal Sheikh.

The victim was taken to Sadar Hospital by his father Azmal Sheikh and later shifted Gazi Medical College Hospital in Khulna for better treatment.

Azmal Sheikh noted that his body or any other person of his family have no previous enmity with the family of offender Soleman and demand his arrest and punishment.

Gazi Medical College Hospital pediatrician Dr Md Barkat Ali said they have formed a medical board for monitoring the treatment of the victim.
