Bengal Art Lounge signed an agreement with Le Méridien Dhaka to bring the creativity of present day Bangladeshi artists at the doorsteps of a wider range of art lovers. The agreement has been inked to bring Bengal Art Lounge under Unlock Art?, a progrramme pioneered by International suite destination Le Méridien with a view to promoting artworks of its host country. It was signed by Bengal Art Lounge's managing director Luva Nahid Chowdhury and director Nawhsin Khair and Le Méridien Dhaka's general manager Ashwani Nayar and marketing communications manager Zaireen Sultana Lupa on behalf of their respective organisations. The agreement signing ceremony was attended by manager of Bengal Art Lounge, Hadrien Diez and experience specialist of Le Meridien Dhaka, Rose Delos Reyes.
According to the agreement, Le Méridien Dhaka will continually encourage its guests to experience contemporary culture of Bangladesh at Bengal Art Lounge. Bengal Art Lounge on its part will act directly by arranging art-based events on the very grounds of Le Meridien Dhaka occasionally.
According to Ashwani Nayar Le Méridien is a hotel inspired by arts with a considerable number of works in its own collection. She said, "Now the Unlock Art programme will help us to gain momentum where our guests may visit Bengal Art Lounge to view works of contemporary Bangladeshi artists."
While commenting on the agreement Luva Nahid Choudhury said, "This partnership is in line with our strategy to project a culturally rich Bangladesh to global audiences". Terming Bengal Art Lounge "A platform" for Bangladeshi contemporary artists to reach out to the public Nawshin Khair felt delighted since distinguished guests of Le Méridien will now also get within that reach.
From 2006 onwards, Le Méridien has been cherishing its more "Creative-minded" guests through enterprises like the Unlock ArtTM programme. Under this programme hotels with the brand have been establishing partnership with local contemporary cultural centers to "unlock" a local contemporary cultural experience while presenting its guests a doorway to a new outlook refined with originality and sophistication.
On first entering guests of Le Méridien are presented with keycards crafted by commissioned artists that lead to spaces beyond guestrooms and suites, an opportunity that Le Méridien guests of Dhaka may now enthusiastically look forward to.
