MEHERPUR, July 24: A policeman was killed as alleged drug traders drove their microbus over him at Kazipur in Gangni upazila on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Alauddin, 35, a constable of Pirtala police camp in Gangni upazila and a resident of Khalsakandi village in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia district. Tipped off that a consignment of contraband Phensidyl syrup was being carried by a microbus, a patrol team of Pirtala police camp intercepted the vehicle at Kazipur around 9:00pm, said officer-in-charge of Gangni Police Station Akram Hossain. Sensing danger, the microbus driver ran constable Alauddin over with his vehicle in a bid to flee, leaving him critically injured. ?UNB
