Nasima was killed as a bus she was travelling in plunged from a flyover at Khilgaon after the driver lost control of the vehicle at about 6:00am.
Her body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.
Some other passengers also sustained injuries in the accident and are now undergoing treatment at the DMCH.
Nasim, brother of the victim, told the Daily Observer that his sister was working at a garment factory at Tongi in Gazipur.
At Karwan Bazar, police constable Sohel Rana was killed as a bus rammed his motorbike from behind at around 2:30pm.
Sohel, of the Special Branch (SB) of police, is the son of Khalilur Rahman of Kushtia.
Tejgaon police said that a passenger carrying mini-bus hit the motorbike the victim was riding on from behind in front of MRS Building. Locals rushed him to the DMCH where he succumbed to his injuries.
Later, the driver of the bus was arrested from the Sheorapara area.
Meanwhile, Selim was crushed under the wheels of a bus at Sheorapara.
Witnesses said Selim was waiting for a bus there in the morning. Suddenly, a New Market-bound bus of Safety Paribahan ran over him around 7:45am and fled from the scene, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, a team of Kafrul police went to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to the DMCH morgue. Selim, son of late Shamsul Islam of Tangail, was working with a private company in the city.
A motor cyclist, Mujibur, was killed as a mini truck slammed the bike he was riding on at Jatrabari around 11:00am.
Locals seized the truck and handed it over to the police. But its driver managed to flee.
An employee of Petrobangla, Moniruzzaman, died after falling from the rooftop of his residence at Khilgaon.
Jahangir, a relative of the deceased, said that the victim went to the rooftop to feed his pigeons in the morning.
Suddenly, he fell from the rooftop. He was taken to DMCH in a critical condition where on-duty doctors declared him dead at about 11:45am. He hails from Comilla.
In Madaripur, at least five people were killed and eight others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus at Pathuria par in Kalkini upazila on Friday afternoon.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Police said a Barisal-bound bus from Madaripur and a microbus bound for Kawrakandi collided head on at about 1:30pm, leaving five people dead on the spot. Kalkini thana OC Kripa Sindhu confirmed the deaths.
In Gazipur, the death toll in a head-on collision between a human hauler and a covered van in Gazipur has risen to five with two women among the dead. The accident took place on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway near Naojorh on Friday morning, said Sub-Inspector Bahar Alam of the Salna Highway Police outpost.
He identified four of the victims as Saidur Rahman, 20, driver of the human hauler (locally known as 'leguna'), passengers, Moni, 25, Sohel, 30, and Selina Akter, 30.
The fifth victim is the driver's assistant. Alam said three of the victims were killed on the spot.
The fourth died at the Gazipur's Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital.
Selina died when the hospital was preparing to transfer her to Dhaka, resident doctor Abdus Salam said.
The injured are Moni's husband Tamir, 28, Mamun, 25, Abdul Quddus, 25, Fakhrul Islam, 35, and Enamul Haq, 35.
Doctor Salam said they had referred the injured to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
