Man stabbed dead over gambling in Pabna

A man was stabbed to death allegedly by his neighbours over gambling at Masimpur village of Pabna Sadar upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Munser Ali, 47, son of late Ayen Uddin Sheikh of the village.

Quoting locals, police said Ajgar Ali tried to prevent a group of teenage boys, including Munser's son Sohel, from playing gambling at the village on Sunday afternoon. At one stage, Ajgar beat Sohel over the issue.

Later, Sohel and his brothers launched an attack on the house of Ajgar Ali and beat him mercilessly.

As a sequel of the incident, Ajgar's men attacked Munser Ali's house around 8pm. At one stage, they stabbed Munser indiscriminately,
leaving him critically injured.

The injured was rushed to Pabna Medical College Hospital from where he was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). However, he succumbed to his injures at the RMCH.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Ahsanul Haque confirmed the incident.
