Bangladesh will start celebrating the Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, bringing an end to the month-long fasting.

The crescent Shawwal moon has been sighted, the National Moon-Sighting Committee announced on Friday evening.

However, people in some parts of the country celebrated the Eid on Friday with Saudi Arabia.

President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, among others, greeted the nation on the occasion.

Thousands of people cramming buses, trains and launches are leaving Dhaka to celebrate Eid with their families back in village and town homes.

Despite all the sufferings, they say they will be happy just to be with their loved ones during Eid.
