Sale of advanced train tickets for Eid-holidaymakers began on Thursday.
Many ticket seekers were found waiting at Kamalapur Railway Station for hours since Wednesday night.  Despite the long wait, many returned empty handed.  
Tickets for July 13 were sold on Thursday while the tickets for July 14 would besold today (Friday).
Besides, the tickets for July 15 will be sold on July 11, for July 16 on July 12 and for July 17 on July 13 between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
In addition, the return tickets of July 20 to July 24 will be available at Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat railway stations from July 16 till July 20.
A total of five pairs of trains will run on four routes three days before the Eid and seven days after the Eid and two pairs of trains will be available on the Eid day on Bhairab-Kishoreganj-Bhairab and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh routes for the devotees who will attend Eid prayers at Sholakia Eidgah.
Some 169 coaches will be added to the existing ones while a total of 225 locomotives will be on operation across the country ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Railways Minister Mujibul Haque visited Kamalapur Railway Station in the morning.
He asked the authorities concerned to maintain train schedules during the period.
The Minister said that the law enforcing agencies would be deployed at important railway stations apart from mobile courts to check ticket black marketing.
About 38,000 passengers usually travel to their destinations from Dhaka per day, said Railway Eastern Zone Managing Director Md Mozzamel Haque.
At least 50,000 homebound passengers will travel by train everyday ahead of the Eid, he said.
Special train services will be added to existing schedules to meet the pressure of the additional passengers, he added.
Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will start selling advance tickets for Eid home-goers from today (Friday).
BRTC tickets will be available at Motijheel, Joarsara, Kallyanpur, Gabtali, Mohammadpur, Mirpur Double Decker Bus Depot, Gazipur Bus Depot, Narayanganj Bus Depot and Dhaka's Phulbaria CBA-2.
According to a circular of BRTC, home-bound passengers would be given special services from July 14 to July 20 ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
