15 injured as law enforcers charge baton on cricket fans at Fatullah

Narayanganj, 3 July : At least 15 people were injured as law enforcers charged baton on a group of agitated cricket fans in front of Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Friday noon.
Witnesses said police and RAB members charged batons on group of people who tried to enter the stadium to watch the T-20 warm up match between visiting South Africa and Bangladesh Cricket Board XI by crossing the barricades of east and west galleries.
The match was scheduled to start at 1pm and entry to the stadium was free.
Although the galleries were filled up before the match, many people tried to enter the stadium by crossing the barricades. As law enforcers tried to stop them, chases and counter chases took place between them and the agitated people. Later, police and RAB members charged baton on the rowdy crowd to bring the situation under control, leaving 15 people with injuries.
Assistant superintendent of police of Fatullah Model Police Station Mohammed Sharifuddin confirmed the incident.
