The Plot
Smart, patriotic and adventurous Omi is a first year student of Notre Dame College. One day at dawnbreak Omi takes a ride towards the Mymensingh Highway in a red car. Immediately after the car moves into the highway it gets damaged. Omi leaving the driver to deal with the car ventures off for sightseeing. He takes a long route through the roadside bushes. Suddenly he stops ahead of a deserted manor which eventually turns out to belong to Mr Kalam, one of Omi's maternal uncles. Omi decides to spend the time in the manor with Mr Kamal and the caretaker Abdul while his car gets fixed. Tender feelings spill out between the uncle and nephew without much ado since the two have not met for a long time.
On the other hand the old desolate house originally belonged to martyred landlord Ballabh Rai. The house is full of jungles and Omi finds a Neem tree in the midst.
Later caretaker Abdul goes out to the Bazaar to make preparations for the special guest. Omi's uncle leaves for the town for some urgent task. Omi is left alone in the large house. Omi starts wandering through the estate and stops before the huge neem tree. There he sees many strange birds. He names one 'Rangeela.'
Suddenly he hears a man in short blue half shirt and short blue half pant driving a three-wheeled wooden box and hawking to sell his ice creams. Omi wonders that, in such a deserted habitat how can someone expect to sell ice-creams? Nonetheless he leaves the thought as it does not concern him and decides to get one ice cream for himself. He calls out to the ice cream man through the window and goes out of the door to collect his ice cream. The ice cream man asks him for his favorite and overtime the two chat about a lot of things. But whenever someone comes around the ice cream seller disappears and comes back again when Omi is alone. The ice cream man is actually the ghost of the owner of the house, who was killed in the Liberation War. The ghost of Ballabh Rai expresses his last wish to Omi the wish to bring the war criminals to justice by bolseting public support. Omi promises to fulfill his wish. Thankfully Channel i is keeping the rest secret to magnify the intense appeal of the movie.
