A Dhaka Court on Tuesday granted bail to Secretary General of BNP Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a defamation case filed for making derogatory comments on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Atual Haque passed the order after hearing the bail petition filed by Fakhrul's lawyer Advocate Sanaullah Miah. AB Siddique president of Jananetri Parishad filed the case against Fakhrul with the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Dhaka on September 8 in 2014. Referring to the book of AK Khandaker, Deputy Chief of the Liberation Forces, the BNP leader in a programme on September 5 the same year, said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in his historic March 7 speech in 1971 said 'Joy Pakistan.'
