BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has said that Awami League (AL), not BNP, will face extinction when it steps down from power.
"People consider BNP, rather than AL, as their only place for putting in confidence," she claimed while addressing a view-exchange meeting with the members of the Noakhali District Lawyers' Association at her Gulshan office Tuesday night.
BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar and Chairperson's Adviser Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, among others, were present at the meeting.
The ruling AL doesn't intend to hold a free and fair election anywhere as it knows well about the possible outcome, she said. But, she reiterated, it's a must for them to arrange a free and fair national election with participation of all political parties sooner than later.
Terming the Prime Minister 'autocrat and tyrant', the BNP chief alleged, "Sheikh Hasina is directly involved in abductions, killings and forced disappearances."
She said, "The government is hatching conspiracy to root out BNP by using the goons of Juba League and Chhatra League with police support. But it's impossible on their part to stamp out the party as BNP is a people's platform."
She, however, claimed that her party remained united in fight against all odds.
Reshuffling, she said, in any political party is a normal process and it would happen anytime.
