SYLHET, June 14: A group of students led by a lecturer of Sylhet Metropolitan University have made a drone that can provide with different features of weather information.
Asked about the drone, Syed Rezawanul Haq Nabil, Lecturer of the Electrical and Electronics department of the university, said, "The drone named 'Weather Informer Drone-1 (WID-1) is able to read temperature, wind quality, cold wave and wind pressure".
This drone can also read nuclear radiation as it got Geigar Muller Counter, an instrument used for measuring ionizing radiation, he said.
The team also attached an airdropping mechanism to the drone. It can carry and drop object to accurate destination, said Nabil who led the team of the students.
Software of the drone ground control station, he said, was also programmed by the students.
Formally known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), drone can be remotely controlled or can auto-fly through software-controlled flight plans.
