Indira Gandhi Culture Centre will organise an evening of Rabindra Sangeet by Bangladeshi Tagore artiste Ashraf Mahmud. The musical soiree will be held today at 6:30pm at the IGCC, Gulshan in the city.
Ashraf Mahmud got his Bachelor of Music degree from Dhaka University. He got training in Rabindra Sangeet from Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, Late Abdul Ahad, Sadi Mohammad and Tapan Mahmud. Apart from this, he learnt classical music from Prof. Shamima Parvin and Late Ustad Fazlul Haque among others. He was awarded Bangladesh Shilpokola Podak-2013 in recognition of his contribution to the field of music under Bangladesh Shilpokola Academy, Meherpur District. He was Secretary General for seven years at "Jatio Robindro Songit Sommilon Porishod" in Meherpur District.
Mahmud is Special Grade Singer of BTV, Bangladesh Betar, Masranga TV, SATV, MOHONA TV, NTV and 71TV. He is also Music Director in Bangladesh Television and Music Trainer, Bangladesh Shilpo Kala Academy. He participates in music programmes in Bangabhaban, Bishsho Sahitto Kendro, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy etc.
