The ruling Awami League Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta said that the implementation of budget is possible if the government follow three suggestions.
In his suggestions, Suranjit said, "Our economic indicators are positive. I would strongly recommend bringing more discipline in the banking sector, do not encourage loans defaulters and seriously monitor sources of revenue."
The former minister said, "I am hopeful about the proposed national budget. The growth target as earmarked in the budget could possibly be achieved if there is political stability in the country."
Suranjit, also chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, made these suggestions while addressing a discussion meeting organized at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the city on Friday noon.
Suranjit, appreciating the positive sides of the budget, said that the proposed budget is first budget of the seventh fifth year plan. That's why the budget is important and huge in size.
He came down heavily on the budget critics saying, "Ambitious budget is needed for further development of the country."
Suranjit said talks not only on sharing of waters of the river Teesta but sharing of waters of all the common rivers of Bangladesh and India are required during the maiden visit of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
Suranjit said, "India is our friendly neighbour. We have got many things (as assistance and cooperation) from them. So, there will be no place for anti-India campaigners and separatists in the sacred soil of Bangladesh."
