First ever children's budget proposed

For the first time, government has proposed a separate children's budget for the fiscal year 2015-16 for the wellbeing of children especially, the destitute and poor children in rural and urban areas in Social Safety Net Programme.
Initially, the budget will be allocated to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Ministry of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, Finance Ministry sources said.
This fact came at budget proposals for FY 15-16 placed before Parliament Thursday.
Justifying the Children's Budget, Finance Minister AHM Muhith, during his Budget Speech in said "I have already mentioned, if women participation is raised in economic activities of the country, the growth potential would increase significantly."
All programmes related to women development and employments are being re-structured in order to enhance women participation in all economic activities to 50 percent by 2021.
Creation of institutional infrastructure for this organisation is underway and a range of steps have been taken up for skill development of women, he added.
 You may be aware that the Joyeeta Foundation is working to commercially engage grassroots level women in the supply chain from production to distribution, the minister said.
