The government has allocated Tk 18,383 crore for the defence service sector, including the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces Division and other services, in the proposed budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year.
The allocated amount is Tk 1921 crore or 11.6
percent more than the amount this sector got
in the outgoing fiscal
year (2014-15). The allocation was Tk 16462 crore
for FY 15.
The allocation is Tk 613 crore higher than the Tk 17,770 crore revised allocation for the previous FY 2014-15..
The allocation for defence is one of the highest for any sector or ministry. The amount accounts for 6.23 per cent of the national budget and a 3.45 per cent rise from the revised budget for the outgoing financial year.
