In 2015, Berger Young Painters' Art Competition steps into its 20th year. To mark the historical journey, Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd has chalked out various initiatives that will add a new dimension to this prestigious event, highlighting the achievements of Berger Paints Young Painters' Art Competition (BYPAC) in its glorious two decades.
On June 1, Berger Paints arranged a press conference at Gulshan Club to announce various activities in connection with the two decade celebration of BYPAC. Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, senior general manager of Sales & Marketing; A.K.M. Sadeque Nawaj, general manager of Marketing; eminent artist and chairman of the jury committee Syed Jahangir and Professor Abdus Shakoor Shah were present at the press conference.
Mohsin Habib Chowdhury announced the plans for celebrating two decades of BYPAC.
In addition to the prize money, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners of the 20th BYPAC will visit the National Art Museum of Singapore, Bangkok and Malaysia respectively and 4th, 5th and 6th winners will visit University of Rabindra Bharoti, Kolkata. Renowned artist Rafiqun Nabi will be honoured with the Life Time Achievement Award of 20th BYPAC.
An exhibition of still photographs of the winning paintings of last 19 years (1996-2014) will be held simultaneously along with the regular exhibition of the top 40 paintings of 2015.
A supplement will be published in daily newspapers and also a special publication will be published showcasing winning paintings and highlights of 20 years.
The two-decade celebration of BYPAC will be dedicated to one of the key mentors from the inception of this event, late artist Qayyum Choudhury.
Amongst others, Syed Jahangir, Abdus Shakoor Shah and Sadeque Nawaj also spoke on the occasion and answered to the queries.
