Gazipur: The fire that broke out at a seven-storey textile mill at Batjuri in Sreepur upazila on Sunday afternoon, is now under control after 20-hour of frantic efforts .
Some floors of the building, made of steel, collapsed due to heat caused by the fire.
Gazipur Fire Station deputy director Akhteruzzaman said, the fire broke out on the second floor of the steel building, housing 'Dignity Textile Mill', around 1:45pm and it soon spread to the whole building.
On information, 14 firefighting units from Gazipur, Kaliakoir, Tongi, Mawna and Bhaluka rushed to the spot and doused the fire after 20-hour.
A five-member probe committee, headed by Shreepur UNO Sadekur Rahman, was formed to investigate the incident.
The mill authorities claimed that no one was injured as around 3000 workers of the factory were out on lunch at that time.
