Jahir Islam, 19, a fresh college graduate has a long cherished desire to go abroad. To accomplish his desire he once decided to go to a coaching centre to develop skills in English language. After one month, Jahir thought about his progress. The coaching authority gave him the evaluation report of his exam, but Jahir was not satisfied with that.
We are now living in a technology driven world. The future is waiting for us with amazing gifts of information technology. With the thought of doing something special with the magic touch of technology we started our journey with the 'Ten Minute School' in 2013. The title itself reflects what it stands for. Anyone can guess easily about the simplicity of the online based educational initiative. With the tagline of 'Learn, Practice and Progress' the learning platform is the centre of innovative methods of some creative young minds.
Education is a fundamental human right and we believe everyone have the right to get education at free of cost.
The TMS initiative is the brainchild of a student entrepreneur AymanSadiq, a final year student of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University.
TMS website was launched on May 17, last week. Although the planning started way back in November 2013, after two terms' failed attempts the team was
finally formed in April 2014.
Within just two weeks of launching the website has had a good response from all over the globe. As of now, more than 1,500 users have subscribed as learners and many more thousands have already started taking courses here and the number keeps increasing every single day.
'10 Minute School' is the first ever site in Bangladesh through which students can learn from the tutorials, practise from the given tests, monitor their progress, compare with their peers and others, get every single information needed which otherwise is not available in the internet, and they can get all these at 'FREE' of cost.
At present anyone can give quizzes based on SSC syllabus, HSC syllabus, different admission tests including IBA, medical, engineering, public university units, MBA, private university, BCS exam, bank job recruitment, SAT, GRE, GMAT and IELTS. Video courses are being developed and will be available very soon.
There are numerous info-graphics that cover admission information of different universities, pattern and preparation guideline of standardized tests and a lot more. Many students are often lost before admission tests as they do not have accurate and adequate information.
The info-graphics section of 10 Minute School can be of great help to those students. The E-book section also features some captivating content; especially the Onko 101 and English 101 are great hits among students for brushing up their math and English basics in less than 10 minutes. The e-books are available in both Bengali and English.
This crazy and diverse '10 Minute School' team consists of bright young minds from different universities of the country. Some of the young innovative minds from IBA, BUET, DU, NSU and BUP worked together to make this possible. The project is like an open canvas where team members contribute their imaginative ideas and every single idea is given a try.
10 Minute School is an open platform where anyone and everyone can contribute. The team is ready to be expanded in order to make room for more creative minds from different universities. Anyone interested to contribute can give a shout-out in their Facebook page: facebook.com/10minuteschool).
10 Minute School is going for a cross platform marketing approach by inviting students from all the schools, colleges and universities of the country to come together and create a massive transformation in the education industry of our country. We believe in CHANGE. Do you think it sounds kind of utopian?
Well, you just need to see for yourself to believe it. Do you have 10 minutes of spare time? Instead of scrolling down your Facebook newsfeed aimlessly, visit the '10 Minute School' website and facebook page and learn, practise, progress!
