Members of Bangladesh Garo Chhatra Sangathan on Wednesday demanded death penalty for the alleged rapists responsible for gang rape of a Garo girl in a running microbus in the capital on May 21.
The demand came from a rally held at the altar of Raju Sculpture near TSC on the Dhaka University (DU) campus.
The indigenous students' platform organised the rally.
The organisation's President Lenard Subit Rokho in his speech urged the government to ensure death penalty to the offenders arranging special trial for them.
He also announced a two-day programme including a candle-light procession at the same place around 7:00pm on Thursday and a demonstration in front of the National Press Club around 10:00am on Friday.
Earlier, the leaders and activists of the organisation brought out a silent procession on the DU campus.
