A female allegedly committed suicide by taking poison at Mirpur area in the capital on Monday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Shirin Akhter, 30, daughter of Abdur Rashid, of Pirganj, Rangpur.

Confirming the matter, Rupnagar thana sub-inspector Ashraf Ali said Shirin Akhter took poison at one stage of altercation between her parents.

She was rushed to Suhrawardy Hospital where she died around 12:30pm.
