At least 10 people, including seven cops, were injured in a clash between alleged drug traders and police accompanying officials of Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in the city's Karwan Bazar Railway plot on Saturday afternoon.
One Marium Begum, 30, was arrested with 700 pieces of Yaba tablets from the spot.
Masudur Rahman, Inspector of DNC, told the Daily Observer over phone that earlier they captured an alleged drug vendor, Zarina Begum, with 200 pieces of Yaba tablets near the BFDC building.
"As per her information, a team comprising police and officials of DNC went there to arrest another female drug vendor, Kutthi, at about 4:00pm." "During our drive to nab her, a group of drug vendors attacked us with brick chips and stones, leaving seven cops injured," Masudur said.
The injured law enforcers took primary treatment from Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
