Chittagong: Chittagong BNP-blessed mayor candidate M Manjur Alam has boycotted the polls bringing allegation of vote rigging and capturing centre.

The announcement came at a press briefing held at the election office at Dewanhat area in the port city at 11:15am.

Manjur Alam also declared quitting politics.

UNB adds, speaking at the press conference, Manjur's chief election agent and BNP senior leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, their candidate has stepped out of the race as armed miscreants have taken control over '80 percent' of the polling centres with the backup of police and Election Commission officials since the morning.
