Dhaka University (DU) authorities on Thursday formed a probe body to investigate the sexual harassment of several women on the campus during the Bangla New Year celebrations on Tuesday.
DU proctor Prof M Amzad Ali said they have formed a seven-member probe body, headed by DU pro-vice chancellor (academic) Nasreen Ahmed.
The committee has been asked to submit its report by April 23.
The DU authorities also issued a circular asking all to submit information in connection with the sexual harassment at Suhrawardy Udyan gate near TSC of DU on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, police filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station in this connection.
Sub-inspector of Shahabag Police Station Abul Kalam Azad filed the case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2002 (Amended 2003).
On Tuesday evening, a group of youths assaulted and sexually harassed some women at the Suhrawardy Udyan gate during the Pahela Baishakh celebrations.
DU Chhatra Union unit president Liton Nandi was also injured in an attack by the offenders as he protested the sexual harassment.
On Wednesday, leaders and activists of Chhatra union and Progotisheel Chhatra Jote condemned the assault by staging demonstrations on the DU campus and demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.
