Khokon pledges world-class Dhaka if elected mayor

Awami League supported mayoral candidate of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls Sayeed Khokon on Sunday announced his election manifesto saying Dhaka will be built as traffic congestion free, safe, modern and world class city if he is voted as mayor in the election.

Khokon made the pledges while announcing his manifesto at a press conference under the banner "Sahasro Nagarik Committee" at the city's Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh auditorium with the slogan "Parikalpito Unnayan Sujoger Samata, O Adhunik Dhaka".

He promised 15-point prograame which included making Dhaka traffic-jam free, clean, pollution free and healthy city, navigable and safe Buriganga, ensuring water, gas and electricity services, waging war against corruption, terrorism and extortion and ensuring safety of the people.

The AL supported mayoral candidate devoted his electoral pledges to all men and women especially to youths. "Let's develop the old Dhaka with our concerted efforts. Let's build a modern city," he said.

Election Coordinator of AL-supported mayoral candidate of DSCC and AL Agriculture Affairs Secretary Abdur Razzak, Dhaka City AL acting president MA Aziz, convener of Sahasro Nagarik Committee poet Syed Shamsul Haque, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, cultural personalities Ramendra Majumdar and Golam Kuddus, Media personality M Hamid and AL Organizing Secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury were present among others.
