State minister for home Asaduzzaman Khan on Friday night said the possibility of execution of death row war criminal Muhammad Kamaruzzaman is thin on Friday night
"Possibility of execution of Jamaat leader's death is thin today (Friday) and I hope it would be completed on Saturday night," Asaduzzaman told The Daily Observer over phone at 10:35 on Friday night.
Earlier, he said final preparations to execute his capital punishment are going on.
Khan disclosed it while answering queries from journalists during attending a function at Shilpakala Accademy in the capital. He, however, quit the venue before starting the function.
Deputy commissioner of Lalbagh zone (police) Mafiz Uddin and jail physician have entered the jail after the evening.
Meanwhile, the security in and around the Dhaka central jail has been tightened after Friday evening.
The number of law enforcers including police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been increased.
Mafiz Uddin said the security have been increased at the instruction of high-ups.
He, however, did not elaborate the reason.
War crimes death row convict Muhammad Kamaruzzaman was kept at Dhaka central jail.
Earlier on the day, magistrates visited Kamaruzzaman in the jail.
