The Awami League has confirmed 36 councilor aspirants, which is a partial list, for the elections to the two city corporations in Dhaka, due on April 28.
The confirmation came at a meeting held at Ganabhaban on Tuesday night, with Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
The ward-wise confirmed 24 councilor aspirants for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) include Asaduzzaman of ward-21, Milton of ward-1, Anisuzzaman of ward-2, Kashem Saiful of ward-14, Jashimuddin Hossain Shopon of ward-15, Hiru of ward-16, Salahuddin Dhali of ward-17, Jashimuddin Jashim of ward-18, Humayun Kabir of ward- 23, Mossharraf Hossain of ward- 24, Haji Delowar Hossain of ward- 25, Mohammad Osman of ward- 26, Omar Bin Aziz of ward- 27, Mohammad Yunus of ward- 28, Jahangir Alam Babul of ward- 29, Pillu Mia of ward- 30, Shafiqur rahman Jahangir of ward- 31, Siraj of ward-7, Ashrafuzzaman Farid of ward-6, Akram Mukul of ward- 22, Haji Nure Alam of ward- 55(old), Mohammad Hossain of ward- 56 (old), Saidul Islam Matbor of ward- 57 (old) and Fariduddin Ahmed Ratan of ward-20.
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) councilor aspirants, who have been confirmed, include Kamruzzamaan Badal of Ward-23, Gazi Sultan Tipu of ward-8, Abul Hossain of ward-9.
Other aspirants include Manju of Sutrapur, Rahman of Sadarghat, Ranjan of Kotowali, Ashraf Talukder of Motijheel, Popy of Paltan, Kamruzzaman Kajal of Ramna and Shamim of Basabo. The confirmed women councilor aspirants from reserved seats include Rina of Basabo and Moni of Khilgaon.
The complete list of councilor aspirants from the ruling party is likely to be announced today (Wednesday).
