Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre organised a dance performance by Rachel Priyanka Perris at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Gulshan in the city. The event was held on April 4. The dancer was also accompanied by Shokomol Efthekhar Kakon.
The artiste presented several performances-- Nrityer TaleTale, Chondi Shtotra, Aalap Chari and Dashavatar.
Rachel Priyanka Perris is one of the versatile new generation classical dance artist in Bangladesh who has mastered the artistry of classical dance of various forms. After completing Graduation and Post Graduation on Bharatnatyam from the Rabindra Bharati University, Rachel has been pursuing her M. Phil in Gaudiya Nritya from the same University under direct supervision of legendary Guru Prof. Mahua Mukherjee.
She aspires to be the first Gaudiya Nritya artist in Bangladesh and has opted to devote herself in the research of Gaudiya Nritya in this sub-continent. She also has been one of the youngest yet active classical dance artists in Bangladeshi Classical Dance arena. Having completed her diploma courses from Gaudiya Nritya Bharati, Nrittayanchal, and from Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts Ltd, she has performed in numerous Government and private programmes both at home and abroad.
She has received several awards like, Gold Medal, Classical Dance competition organized by North American Bengali Conference and Rabindra Bharati University in 2012, Megastar, Konne tui Megastar of Zee Bangla in 2012, 1st stand in Gaudiya Nritya; Classical Dance competition organized by Calcutta University Institute in 2011. 1st position in Gaudiya Nritya, Classical Dance competition organized by West Bengal State Music Academy in 2011 etc. She is a former dance teacher of Nrittyanchal, Gaudiyanritya Bharati and Abhinav Bharati High School.
