2 businessmen robbed of Tk 8.4 lakh

Dhaka City witnessed at least two mugging incidents within half an hour, between 1:30 am and 2:00am, on Saturday.
Muggers snatched away over Tk 8.4 lakh from Mohammad Falan and Mohammad Shanu, two businessmen, after stabbing one and leaving another with gunshot wounds at Kadamtali and New Market areas.
The victims are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Orthopaedic Hospital now.
DMCH Police Camp-in-Charge Sentu Das said Falan came under attack of a group of snatchers, numbering about eight, in front of an animal bone buying shop at Kadamtali around 2:00am.
The muggers stabbed him with sharp weapons and snatched his bag containing Tk 7.2 lakh, leaving him in a critical condition. Later, locals brought him to DMCH with severe stab injuries, he said.
The police officer said Shanu was intercepted by two miscreants riding on a motorbike while he was returning home from his shop at Gawsia Shopping Mall near the New Market area around 1:30am.
One of the muggers shot at his a leg and snatched Tk 1.2 lakh from his possession.
He was shifted to Orthopaedic Hospital in a serious condition from DMCH, he added.
