Chittagong: A police member was crushed under the wheels of a truck on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as-- Jaan-e-Alam, 45, assistant sub-inspector of police.
   
Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost in-charge Nayak Jahangi Alam said, a truck rammed into Alam around 5am when he was performing his duty, leaving him critically injured.

Alam was rushed to CMCH where on-duty doctors declared him dead.    

The body was kept at hospital morgue.
