In view of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to the Energy Ministry on April 9, the Energy Division has formed an 8-member committee to collect data and information of energy sector for make a presentation before her.
The committee will be headed by Ziaur Rahman Joint Secretary (development).
The Prime Minister planned the visit to discuss crucial projects of the sector and give directives to the officials concerned.
Last year, on February 6 when the Prime Minister came to her office at the Ministry, she had instructed officials on several projects. Now she is coming to know about the progress of those projects, said Energy Division officials.
There are many projects which are in the Prime Minister fast track list which includes the 9,000 MW LNG-based power plant at Moheshkhali. Although the project was not included in the Master Plan, the Power Division is now busy in implementing the project.
Presently, at least 2,000 MW of power generation has been interrupted due to fuel crisis. The government has set a plan to generate 24,000 MW of power by 2021.
