Khaleda will attend court if security assured, says lawyer

Staff Correspondent BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's lawyer Khandaker Mahbub Hossain on Thursday reiterated that she will appear before the Dhaka Court on April 5 if she gets 'security assurance' in the graft cases. He explicated the reason that last time her convoy was attacked when she went to appear before the court. "Khaleda Zia as well as us, the lawyers, are in apprehension that she might be attacked again. So, it is the government's responsibility to ensure proper security for the former prime minister," said the BNP Chairperson's adviser. Earlier on February 25, the Dhaka Court issued arrest warrant against Khaleda as she consecutively refrained herself from attending the court though she is bound by law. The warrant is still in force. Later, the court set April 5 to record deposition of witness against her.
