Staff Correspondent The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday paved the way for release of Humayun Sultan Shadab, husband of slain doctor Shamarukh Mahjabin, after annulling the state plea that sought cancellation of the bail of the key suspect. A four-member apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha dismissed the petition against the March 2 High Court order that granted bail to the son of former Awami League MP from Jessore, Tipu Sultan. Earlier on March 9, the Appellate Division stayed the bail over a plea of the state. Shamarukh, 22, was found hanging from the window grill of her bathroom at her in-law's Dhanmondi residence in the capital on November 13 last year. When she was taken to the Central Hospital, she was declared dead.
