Awami League General Secretary and the LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam has said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia wants to grab power by hook or by crook.
 "Khaleda wants to turn the Bangladesh into a failed state," Ashraf told a rally organised by Muktijoddha Peshajibi Oikya Mancha at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Tuesday.
"If you really wanted mid-term polls you would not have gone for torching common people and their properties. In the real sense of the term, Khaleda Zia doesn't want votes and polls." Ashraf said.
Chairman of the Central Command Council of Muktijoddha Sangsad Maj Gen (Retd) Helal Morshed Khan (Bir Bikram) presided over the rally, also addressed, among others, by Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq.
