Another blogger was hacked to death by the miscreants in capital's Tejgaon area on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as--Washiqur Rahman, 27.

Police arrested--Jikrullah, 20, a student of Hathajari Madrassah, and Ariful Islam, 20, a student of Mirpur Section 1 Darul Ulum Madrassah. Arif and Jikir, have been arrested red handed on the spot, said sources from Tejgaon police. “He was killed for making derogatory remarks on Hazrat Muhammad (SM),” said Tejgaon Shilpanchal Police Station duty officer sub-inspector Shahida quoting Arif and Jikir as confessing in primary interrogation. She told reporters, “Detained Arif and Jikir have confessed in primary interrogation that Washiqur used to write different types of essay on religion on his blog. His latest post on his blog contains some blasphemous comments on Hazrat Muhammad (SM).” Shahida said, “Arif and Jikir decided to kill Washikur when they read that essay. According to their plan, they attacked Washiqur today (Monday) at Begunbari Dhal under Tejgaon Shilpanchal thana at around 10:00 am and chopped him to death.”Tejgaon Police Station ASI Humayun Kabir said, they rescued critically injured Washiqur from Begunbari area around 10:30am.

Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

"He used to work for an NGO. We came to know his identity from his National ID which we found into his pocket" police said.

On February 26, unidentified assailants hacked blogger Avijit Roy to death near Teacher-Student Centre on Dhaka University campus while he was returning from Ekushy Book Fair at Bangla Academy. His wife Rafida Ahmed Banya was also injured in the incident.

UNB adds, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy commissioner (Tejgaon Zone) Biplob Kumar Sarkar at a press briefing at Tejgaon Police Station said reporters that the two arrested also revealed the name of another cohort Abu Taher. The details about Abu Taher could not be learnt immediately.

Biplob Kumar Sarkar said the two arrested have admitted their involvement in the killing of Washiqur.

“They planned to murder him (Washiqur) for publishing write-ups hurting religious sentiments,” he said.

Among the arrested, Jikrullah arrived in Dhaka from Chittagong on Sunday and stayed the night at a mosque in Jatrabari area.

The three alleged assailants also went to South Begunbari area on Sunday to make a scrutiny before implementing their plan.
