BNP has amended its earlier statement and said it would hold demonstrations and  mass processions across the country on Sunday.

In the amended statement, it said non-stop blockade would remain in force.

The statement was issued in the name of BNP joint secretary general Barkatulla Bulu.

The statement said, "The BNP-led 20-party alliance would hold peaceful demonstrations and processions on March 29 at thana, district and metropolitan area across the country to protest mass arrest of BNP leaders and activists, and to press home its demand for returning missing BNP leaders including Salahuddin Ahmed to their families".

Earlier, the statement did not mention anything about the ongoing blockade.

The BNP-led 20 party alliance has been enforcing non-stop blockade since January 6 to press home its demand to organise a fresh election under a neutral administration.

Earlier, BNP was issuing statements every Saturday enforcing hartal from Sunday and continued throughout the week except weekend for the last couple of weeks.

But a change was noticed ahead of Independence Day as the party did not enforce hartal on March 25 and 26.
