A prisoner, who was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for over a month, managed to leave the hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials at the Dhaka Central Jail said Rezaul Karim has been given to 11 years imprisonment for violating discipline of Bangladesh Air Force.
The sacked air force man was admitted to the DMCH on February 9 as he felt back pain and kidney ailments.
Rezaul Karim had been receiving treatment at the hospital's ward No. 701.
He fled away from the hospital dodging two prison guards between 1:00pm and 2:00pm, said jailer Neasar Alam.
The prison guards -- Zafar Alam and Khitish Chandra Mallick -- were suspended due to their negligence in duties, he added.
A case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station.
