Police arrest one for throwing acid on student

HABIGANJ, Mar 13: Police on Friday arrested Shahraj Miah on charge of throwing acid on an examinee of this year's SSC examination in Sadar upazila here.
The victim was identified as Tahmina Akter, an examinee of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination and daughter of late Akchhir Mia of Joyrampur village under sadar upazila in Habiganj.
Police said a group of miscreants entered the Tahmina's house breaking fence on Wednesday and threw acid on her. On hearing Tahmina's shouting the neigbours rushed to the house as miscreants managed to escape.
The injured student was sent to Habiganj sadar hospital for treatment, but later Dr Deepankar Roy shifted her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment.
On Thursday, Shahjahan Miah, elder brother of Tahmina, filed a case with sadar police station against three miscreants, including Shahraj Mia.
OC of Sadar Police Nazim Uddin said they are conducting operation to arrest criminals, who hurled acid.    ?BSS
