Wood trader killed in Jaipurhat

Jaipurhat: A wood trader was killed as he was reportedly hit in the head with a piece of wood by another wood trader at a saw mill in Akkelpur upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Sukumar Chandra, a resident of Raikalir Abadpur village of the upazila.

Witnesses said an altercation took place between Sukumar and Shahidul Islam, another wood trader of the upazila, over money around 5:45pm.

At one stage, Shahidul hit Sukumar in the head with a piece of wood, leaving him injured.

The injured was rushed to Akkelpur Upazila Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Akkelpur Police Station officer-in-charge Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the incident.
