The High Court on Wednesday cleared the way for the trial court to revive the stalled case filed against dismissed Lt Col Zulfiqar Ali Majumder, commanding officer of Rab-7, now on bail, on charges looting Tk 2.7 crore from Talsara Darbar Sharif at Anwara upazila in Chittagong.

Delivering the judgment upon a quashing petition filed by the dismissed Rab official, an HC division bench, comprising Justice M Moazzem Hossain and Justice M Bodruzzaman, discharged the rule questioning the validity of the case.

Mohammad Idris of Talsara Darbar Sharif filed the case with the local police station against 10 members of Rab-7, two of their informants and some 15 unnamed persons on March 13, 2012 on charge of looting the money.

On November 4, 2011, Zulfiqar along with 20 to 30 people, including some Rab men in plainclothes and their informants, allegedly looted Talsara Darbar Sharif at Anwara upazila in Chittagong.

In the case statement, the complainant alleged that the Rab officials with the help of their cohorts entered the shrine and looted Tk 2.07 crore after breaking open steel cupboard of the Darbar Sharif in the name of search operation. The money was given by the followers of the Darbar Sharif and kept inside the cupboard, he added.
