Nagarik Oikya Convenor Mahmudur Rahman Manna, who was on a police remand, has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with chest pain.
Detective Branch of Police took Manna to the Cardiology Department to the DMCH at 11pm on Tuesday as he felt chest pain.
A physician of the Cardiology Department said Manna has high blood pressure.
Manna was placed on a 10-day remand for the second phase on March 7 in a sedition case filed with Gulshan thana on March 5.
Earlier on February 25, he had been taken on a 10-day remand in a case filed for inciting the army.
Bdnew24.com adds : The first case against him was filed when RAB handed him over to the Gulshan police on Feb 25 a day after picking him up from a house in Dhaka’s Banani.
A leaked phone conversation between Manna and Khoka in February had revealed plans to provoking clashes that could lead to ‘a few deaths’ at the Dhaka University in order to destabilise the government.
In another phone conversation with an unidentified person, Manna seemed to suggest the need to influence senior generals to take over power and end the current political crisis.
The two leaked audio clips of Manna had stirred the nation and ignited intense political debate.
