Bicycle bomber, two others put on remand

BNP activist Rakibul Islam Mondal alias Shashi who was arrested with a bicycle bomb from the SA Paribahan office at Kakrail, was placed on a three-day remand and another two BNP activists Aminul Islam Rana and Riajul Islam Riaz who were arrested with huge petrol bombs from old Dhaka, were placed on a four-day remand in two separate cases under Explosives Substances Act on Monday.
The Paltan Police Saturday midnight arrested Rakibul with a bicycle which had explosive substances within its frame from courier service SA Paribahan's Head Office at Kakrail.
SI Humayun Kabir, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case produced the BNP activist before the CMM court with a plea to grant him a week-long remand.  After a hearing Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rejaul Karim sent him to police custody for three days.
Meanwhile, the Sutrapur Police produced Aminul Islam Rana and Riazul Islam Riaz before the CMM court with prayer to grant both a ten-day remand each.
After hearing Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ataul Haque sent them to police custody for four days.  Some 48 petrol bombs, 58 cocktails, one pipe bomb and explosive substances were recovered from the possession of the two BNP activists.
