Asaduzzaman denied arrival of FBI team in Dhaka

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday denied the arrival of any team of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Dhaka recently to assist investigate into the killing of Avijit Roy.   

He said those who are working for unearthing the killers of Avijit are the members of FBI unit at US embassy in Dhaka.

Contradicting the minister’s claim, Detective Branch of Police, earlier, informed that a team of four members of FBI reached in Dhaka on Wednesday night to assist investigate the killing of Avijit.

Asaduzzaman made the claim at a function of Meet the Press’ at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on Saturday. 

“Avijit was killed in a planned manner and there were a number of people at the time of killing,” the minister said.

Asaduzzaman also informed that another suspect was also arrested in connection with the killing of writer Avijit who was killed on February 26 near TSC while he along with his wife was returning from the book fair. Earlier, RAB arrested Farabi who threatened killing of Avijit.
