Mumbai, Mar 4:  On Monday night, Vaishali Dalmiya, the daughter of Indian cricket board's new president didn't go to sleep till her dad (Jagmohan Dalmiya) arrived late night at Kolkata home from Chennai.
"I was waiting for his arrival and we congratulated him immediately on his return", the daughter said over telephone from Kolkata.
"Obviously we are all very very happy and overwhelmed with his appointment. 'Boss' is back after 11 years and we are all very excited", she further added.
The daughter does not believe that the present age (74 years) of her dad would be hindrance in his work. "No, no. The age is just the number. My dad has a passion. He is workaholic and very active and his yet another innings with the Indian cricket will benefit the game".
Interestingly, Jagmohan Dalmiya is four months younger than what is believed. "His date of birth is NOT May 30, 1940, as recorded at Wikipedia and also at few cricketing websites. He was born in the month of September", she clarified.
The daughter does not believe that heading the game at the international level once and then leading the national board again is degradation. "I think heading a national body is equally prestigious. To be the part of the BCCI is not less prestigious. My father also ruled the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)". Dalmiya was the founder of the ACC. "My father was instrumental in giving Test status to Bangladesh also", she reminds.
Vaishali, the Bengali film producer by profession, didn't accompany her dad to Chennai, but her brother did. Jagmohan Dalmiya's son, Abhisek, was in Chennai with his dad during the AGM.
The Junior Dalmiya, who runs the day-to-day operations of their running construction business, has also entered into the sports administration.
Dalmiya's wife Chandralekha hails from the Ghosh family of Pathuriaghata.
