Western Marine Shipyard (WMS) has signed a deal for building another container vessel with a capacity to carry 176 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), for Bancan Shipping Limited.
The deal was signed Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel in the capital by WMS Chairman Saiful Islam and Bancan Shipping Ltd Chairman Sarwar Hossain on behalf of their respective organisations.
The ship will containers to and from Chittagong Port to the newly developed Pangaon Inland Container Terminal (PICT) in Narayangan, said a press release issued by WMS.
Western Marine earlier signed similar deals for building 10 container vessels for different companies which will operated for PICT. The ships are expected to make a major contribution in our economy for port service enhancement and at the same time may play a major role in reduction of traffic density in highways by transporting the mass imported goods by river.
