Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to pay an official visit to Bangladesh to commemorate the 40 years of China-Bangladesh friendship in April, a highly placed official source said.
The Foreign Office confirmed that Chinese diplomats in Dhaka have confirmed the schedule and protocols of the high profile visit of the Chinese leader to Bangladesh.
Final date of the visit of President Xi Jinping and programmes are being worked out by diplomats in Beijing and Dhaka. An official announcement in this connection is expected soon.
The objective of the state visit of Chinese President primarily would be to take the bilateral relations to a new height. Especially in the sectors of investment, trade, commerce, science and technology, and other issues of bilateral cooperation, the official added. Xi Jinping is the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, also the President of the People's Republic of China, and the Chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Chinese diplomats have shared with Bangladesh Foreign Ministry that several infrastructural projects are expected to be proposed for economic development.
Meanwhile, a joint Chinese-Bangladesh team are working to review all the infrastructure development projects to determine the status of progress of implementation. The working team would submit the report to spell out the limitations and the causes of delays to implement the projects, the official said.
