A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna on a 10-day remand in a case filed for instigating armed forces to revolt.

Metropolitan magistrate Mahbubur Rahman passed the order after Manna was produced before it in the afternoon, seeking the remand.

Earlier, sub-inspector Sohel Rana filed a case against Manna with Gulshan Police Station on Tuesday under section 131 of the Penal Code.

The offence under BPC section 131 provides punishment with imprisonment for life or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to 10 years and also fine, reports UNB.

Nearly 21 hours after he was picked up by plainclothes lawmen from a house at Banani early Tuesday, elite force Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) confirmed the arrest of Manna and handed him over to Gulshan
Police Station.
